Media WORKS Enterprise

A program for youth-at-risk developed for Training and Development Corp. (Bangor, Maine) that used a multimedia arts professional production environment to build employability skills. MediaWORKS Enterprise ran for five years and a follow-up version (Media Bridge) was designed for a non-profit in Denver, Colorado that ran for 2-years.

The program was structured using Tiers of Engagement - youth would enter the studio as paid interns and go through a training period, followed by production work for actual non-profit clients, and leadership roles as they were ready to perform them. Read about the program as featured in Adobe magazine.

Pinnacle - Online Project-based Learning Model

This project-based learning model for online study in arts & design was designed for The Art Institutes Online as a collaborative project with their faculty and instructional designers. Each course revolves around a project (or series of projects) drawn from authentic practice and including a professional scenario. For example, the student may be in the role of working with a book publisher and shooting cover photographs for a series of books. This project-based method increased student persistence in ranges from 5 - 20%, as well as increasing the portfolio scores in Institutional Effectiveness reviews. For a brief overview, see the deck for the presentation given at the D2L Fusion Conference.
